Abstract
Novel luminescent methaciylate monomers 1a-d having platinum and palladium complexes of 5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin and 5,10,15,20- tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)porphyrin were synthesized and copolymerized with isobutyl methacrylate (IBM) and 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl methacrylate (TFEM) to afford the metalloporphyrin-conjugated oxygen-permeable polymer 2a-d. The introduction of metalloporphyrin in polymer 2a-d was evidenced by means of UV-vis spectroscopy and extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) analysis. The composition of monomer units 1a-d, IBM and TFEM was almost equal to that in feed. The oxygen-sensing property was discussed on the films made of polymer 2a-d and the mixture of corresponding metalloporphyrin and poly(IBM-co-TFEM). In the case of platinum complex, the conjugation of metalloporphyrin to the polymer main chain improves the linearity of Stern-Volmer plot. In the case of palladium complexes, however, the Stren-Volmer plot shows the significant deviation from linearity, indicating that an another heterogeneity owing to an inherent nature of the palladium complexes affects the pressure response.
