Syntheses and physical properties of quasi-one-dimensional halogen-bridged CuII-PtIV mixed-metal MX-chain compounds

Abstract

We synthesized new halogen-bridged mixed-metal complexes [Cu(chxn)2][PtX2(chxn)2]X4 (X=Cl, Br), and measured magnetic susceptibilities. The structures of [Cu(chxn)2][PtX2(chxn)2]X4 consist of linear chains with CuII...X-PtIV repeating units, which have tight hydrogen-bonds between ligands and counter anions and construct a two-dimensional(2-D) hydrogen-bond network. Magnetic susceptibility measurements show weak antiferromagnetic behavior.
