Symmetry-dependent multielectron excitations near the C 1s ionization threshold and distortion of the shape resonance in CO2

Abstract

An investigation of symmetry-dependent multielectron excitations near the C 1s ionization threshold and distortion of the shape resonance in CO2 was presented. The broad resonance at ∼312 eV was assigned to a distorted σu shape resonance. The results showed that satellite excitations accompanying C 1s photoionization in CO2 differ for σ and π transitions near the C 1s ionization threshold.
