Abstract
The origin of the characteristic spectrum in the t-J model is ascribed to a hidden continuous symmetry. The Lie group theory gives the exact eigenstates as generalized plane waves in a fictitious Riemannian space. In the high-density limit, the model is exactly mapped to the nonlinear σ model.
