Submillimeter wave ESR measurements of gapless S = 1 antiferromagnetic bond alternating chain system

Abstract

Submillimeter wave ESR measurements have been performed on gapless S = 1 antiferromagnetic bond alternating chain system Ni(333 -tet)(μ - N3)(ClO4) using the pulsed magnetic field up to 16 T and the resonance has been observed in the temperature region from 4.2 to 260 K for the first time. The g-shift and the broadening of ESR are observed below 113 K, which corresponds to the maximum of the magnetic susceptibility. These results suggest the importance of the quantum fluctuation in the system at low temperature.
