Abstract
Computer simulation was performed to compare the performance of various partial response maximum likelihood (PRML) systems in perpendicular magnetic recording using a double-layered medium. It was observed that over the density of 3≤K≤4, the PRML systems with the only positive coefficients exhibit good performance in the read/write channel containing jitter-like noise.
