Abstract
This paper describes a simplified estimation method for surface crack growth behavior under creep-fatigue conditions. The method considered in this study was based on R6 rule developed by CEGB in UK and was applied to fatigue and creep-fatigue crack growth assessment. The authors considered stress relaxation behavior during the hold time in the ΔJ c evaluation using elastic follow-up coefficients. Various tests were carried out and were compared with the predictions by the proposed method. In consequence, it was confirmed that the crack growth-rate under creep-fatigue conditions can be estimated within a factor of two for axial loading and ten for bending loading.
