Abstract
Ferromagnetic systems consisting of a film with finite thickness coupled to a semi-infinite bulk are studied by Ginzburg-Landau theory. Spin-spin correlation functions and the spontaneous magnetization are evaluated. The critical point of the thin film is determined in terms of the magnetic constants of the two subsystems, surface condition and the film thickness. The implications of these results are discussed.
