Studies on lowering CLTE for polyolefin and various types of elastomer binary blends

    Abstract

    The CLTE in the injection-molded specimens with binary blends consisting of crystalline polyolefins and various types of thermoplastic elastomers was investigated by TMA. We introduced PP/ethylenic thermoplastic elastomer binary blends as typical examples. On the same conomomer contents, PP-EOR had a low CLTE in FD, compared to that in PP-EBR, indicating that compatibility with the base PP play an important role to controlling the CLTE in FD. TEM revealed that both elastomers were highly elongated to the FD.
