Abstract

A new sesquiterpenoid, cyclokessyl acetate, was isolated from the roots of Valeriana fauriei 'hokkai-kisso' (Valerianaceae), and its structure was determined by chemical and spectroscopic evidence, especially by means of two-dimensional NMR correlations, to have a novel carbon skeleton.
