Structure and thermal stability of mesostructured zirconium oxophosphates

Highly ordered mesoporous zirconium oxophosphates (designated as ZOP) with hexagonal P63/mmc and cubic Fm over(3, ̄) m symmetries were firstly prepared by using gemini cationic surfactants as templates. It has been found that the thermal stability was elevated with the structure curvature order: cubic Ia over(3, ̄) d < 2 D-hexagonal p 6 mm < cubic Fm over(3, ̄) m, hexagonal P63/mmc and cubic Pm over(3, ̄) n. The ZOP mesoporous materials with cubic Fm over(3, ̄) m and hexagonal P63/mmc structures were stable up to 800 °C, which provides a new insight into the structural factors governing self-assembly of thermally stable mesoporous materials and would open up new possibilities of porous materials for advanced applications.
