Abstract

The structure of molten albite (NaAISi3O8) at 1460K has been determined by the high temperature energy dispersive X-ray diffraction (EDXD) method. Tetrahedral local ordering structure of SiO4and AIO4 is suggested as a fundamental local unit of molten albite. The linkage of this structural unit is also discussed in comparison with the structure of crystalline albite.
