Abstract
We report that clearly different microstructures were obtained corresponding to different parts in a Pd40Ni40Si 5P15 glassy rod, showing a nature of structural flexibility of a glass. Such a structural difference was believed to have the origin in the different cooling rate induced by the solidification in succession of the molten alloy during the casting. Upon this difference in the microstructure, the samples show very different deformation behaviors.
