Abstract

The esterification of a bis(μ-hydroxo) dioxovanadium site in divanadium-substituted silicotungstate, γ-H2SiV 2W10O404-, with alcohols is sterically controlled: The secondary and tertiary alcohol esters are hardly formed (equilibrium constant < 0.01), and a large equilibrium constant of 75 is observed for the reaction with methanol.
