Stability of second-order nonlinearity from corona-poled silica films doped with azo dye with simple sol-gel processing

Abstract

Sol-gel processed silica films doped with organic azo dye in a higher concentration of 40 wt%, were prepared. Large second-order nonlinear optical coefficients were obtained from azo dye doped silica film for the fundamental wavelength of 1064 nm, and the value was unvaried for 1000 h with no relaxation at room temperature. Moreover the silica film were stable under a high temperature condition (125 °C) without any relaxation.
