Spin-splitting Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations in organic conductor (BEDT-TTF)2KHg(SCN)4

Abstract

The magnetoresistance, the Shubnikov-de Haas effect and the static magnetic susceptibility of an organic conductor (BEDT-TTF)2KHg(SCN)4 have been measured. The anomalous spin-splitting phenomenon which exhibits the field-dependent spin-splitting separation has been observed. The anisotropic magnetic susceptibility evidences an antiferromagnetic (or spin density wave) ordering below about 10K with the easy axis in the conduction planes. The origin of the field-dependent spin-splitting could be understood by assuming an antiferromagnetic exchange interaction between the electrons in the spin-up and spin-down states.
