Spin-dependent transport in nanocomposites of Al q3 molecules and cobalt nanoparticles

Abstract

The authors have observed magnetoresistance (MR) ratios of 12% and 0.1% at 4.2 and 290 K, respectively, in a nanocomposite in which Co nanoparticles are embedded in the fine molecular structure of a tris(8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum (Al q3) matrix. Structural analyses, magnetization measurements, and conduction properties of the device reveal that the MR effect is induced by spin-dependent transport in the Al q3.
