Abstract
Specific-heat data for UCoAl1-xGax solid solutions between the 5f-band metamagnet UCoAl and ferromagnetic UCoGa are presented. The decrease of the y-coefficient from 68 to 57 mJ mol-1 K-2 with x increasing up to 0.2 is attributed to suppression of spin fluctuations. For x between 0.60 and 0.70, γ drops from 55 to 37 mJ mol-1 K-2, although bulk magnetic properties vary monotonously with concentration. A possible explanation of this abrupt change in terms of percolation from a cluster to a homogenous ferromagnetic state is proposed.
