Abstract
The specific heat C(T) was measured between 1.8 and 300 K for single crystals of CePdP and CePdAs and their non-magnetic references LaPdP and LaPdAs. It was found that CePdP and CePdAs show a ferromagnetic ordering below 5.2 and 6.2 K, respectively. We found a small hump in C(T) of CePdAs at 4 K which have not been reported so far, suggesting successive ferromagnetic transitions in CePdAs. The Schottky-type anomalies around 100 K were revealed in the magnetic contribution to C(T) for CePdP and CePdAs. It is suggested that the first and second excited doublets are separated above the ground state by ∼300 K.
