Abstract
The relationship between network structure and mechanical properties for rubber vulcanizates has been widely investigated. The authors prepared ordinary natural rubber (NR) vulcanizates and an endlinked polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) model network. In this paper the authors compare the values of M//c for both types of samples calculated by using the conventional Flory-Rehner equation with those estimated from the new approach and discuss the swelling mechanism of crosslinked rubber.
