Solubilities of CO2 and redox equilibria of Sb and As in Na2O-Sb2Om and Na2O-As2Om melts

Solubilities of carbon dioxide and redox ratios of Sb and As in Na2O-Sb2Om and Na2O-As2Om melts were studied. Results show that antimony exists in these melts not only in pentavalent but also in trivalent state, their proportions depending on the experimental conditions. Arsenic exists predominantly in the the pentavalent anion in these melts. As the pentavalent arsenic is more stable compared with antimony, the redox reaction of arsenic has almost no effect on the carbon dioxide solubility in the melts.
