Abstract
The solid-solution hardening of Ir by Pt and Ni was discussed. The compressive strength and compressive creep properties were also investigated for Ir-Pt, Ir-Ni, and Ir-Pt-Ni alloys. It was found that the solid-solution hardening effect of Ni was higher than that of Pt as the atomic size difference was larger in the Ir-Ni alloy than in the Ir-Pt alloy.
