Abstract

This paper deals with the electromagneto-elastic problem of an elastic conducting thin plate containing a through crack under a uniform electric current flow and a constant magnetic field. The current flow is disturbed by the presence of the crack and the twisting moment is caused by the interaction between the magnetic field and the disturbed current. Two problems concerning the electric current density field and the electromagneto-elastic field are formulated by means of integral transform techniques and reduced to two pairs of dual integral equations. These integral equations are solved exactly, and the singular current densities, the displacement of the crack surface and the singular moments near the crack tip are expressed in closed forms.
