Sibeian forest fire detection using NOAA AVHRR

Abstract

A study on the detection of forest fire in Siberian areas using NOAA advanced very high resolution radiometer (AVHRR) data was performed. A new forest fire detection with channel 3A equipped with NOAA-15 was developed. The channel 3A data showed very high value compared to around non-fire area. Fire detection algorithm with channel 3B was used on hot wetlands.
