Abstract

The semiconductor Research Center of the Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. , Ltd. has developed a second harmonic generation (SHG) device which uses optical IC technology to efficiently halve laser beam wavelength. Capable of efficiently generating a 0. 4 to 0. 5-micrometer beam from a YAG or semiconductor laser, it is expected to quadruple recording density in the optical information recording field.
