N2 - Shape memory alloys represent a new class of material, capable of transforming thermal energy into mechanical work. If the heating and cooling of these alloys is controlled by pulsed direct electrical current, repeated cyclic motions can be achieved and used in robotic applications as thermal-mechanical actuators.
