Service oriented network management with knowledge-based network management system in fluctuating environment

Abstract

The best advantage of cloud environment is elasticity. Although cloud-hosted ICT services gain an ability to flexibly change their size and granularity, deep knowledge and much experience are required for administrators to stably operate ICT services in such fluctuating environment. Various attempts on knowledge-based systems are made to reduce burden on administrators. However, knowledge-based systems necessitate management knowledge appropriate to ICT service configuration, and consequently a burden on maintaining knowledge base is not negligible in fluctuating environment. We propose service oriented network management with knowledge-based network management support system. Proposed system is modularized and can be applied to fluctuating environment with less burden. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposal through experiments using implemented prototype system.
