Selective preparation of enantiomers by laser pulses: From optimal control to specific pump and dump transitions

Abstract

The underlying mechanism of a optimal laser pulse in terms of a series of subsequent individual laser induced transitions, subject to the symmetry selection rules was described. This series of transition could be induced by a simple series of sequential individual laser pulses with analytical shapes. By this simplification experimental implementation of the selective laser preparation of enantiomers, in comparison with the more complex, optimal laser pulses became easier.
