Abstract

Selective functionalization of a microphase-separated structure formed by diblock copolymers can be achieved due to a difference in chemical affinity between separated phases. In this study, a lamella-structure thin films of a poly(styrene)-b-poly(4-vinylpyridine) diblock copolymers was prepared on a polyimide film. Its immersion in a HAuCl4 ethanol solution or a PdCl2 aqueous solution followed by reduction and its exposure to a vapor of iodine and RuO4 were carried out. Selective doping of conductive materials such as Au and Pd particles, Ix, and RuO x into the lamella structure was investigated by cross-sectional TEM observation.
