Second harmonic generation using axially symmetric, polarized beams with spatial variation of ellipticity

Abstract

Transverse mode conversion by second harmonic generation is demonstrated using focused axially symmetric, polarized beams with spatial variation of ellipticity. Superposition of higher order transverse modes of Hermite-Gaussian or Laguerre-Gaussian beams forms peculiar intensity patterns.
