Abstract

Noncritical phase-matching (NCM) and second harmonic generation (SHG) in GdxY1-xCa4(BO3)3 thin films was presented. The combinatorial laser Molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) method was used for parallel synthesis of the thin films and to accelerate the optimization of growth conditions. The streak reflection high energy electron diffraction (RHEED) patterns and atomic force microscopy (AFM) images revealed that obtained films had good crystallinity and atomically smooth surfaces. Analysis suggested that optimal growth conditions yielded films with surface morphology equivalent to that of the substrate.
