Search for the G-parity violation of weak nucleon current in β decays of mass 8 system

The β-ray angular distribution from the mirror pair 8Li and 8B have been observed to search for the G-parity violating induced tensor term gII in the weak nucleon current The pure nuclear spin alignment of 8Li and 8B (Iπ = 2+) was successfully converted from the nuclear spin polarization by applying a β-NMR technique. The alignment correlation term in the β-ray angular distribution was observed as a function of β-ray energy. The gII was extracted from the alignment correlation term by combining the known β-α correlation term and weak magnetism to be gII/g A = -0.28 ± 0.28(stat.)±0.15(syst.) at a 1σ (68%) level.
