Abstract
An empirical formula is derived for the sand ripple geometry produced by waves and current, by using laboratory data collected by various researchers and present authors. Field data obtained at a river mouth is compared with this formula. The sand transport rate at the river mouth is also measured, and is expressed in terms of the bottom shear stress under waves and current, which can be estimated by using the friction coefficient.
