R2Co17 polymorphism and magnetic properties in Sm(Co, Cu, Fe, Ti)7 magnets

Crystal structure of high temperature phase has been investigated as functions of Cu, Fe, Ti content in Sm(Co, Cu, Fe, Ti)7 alloys. These alloys are shown to crystallize in three polymorphic forms. It has been found that Cu and Ti stabilize TbCu7, but Fe stabilizes Th2Zn17. The relationship is discussed between TbCu7 stability and hard magnetic properties.
