Roll-off factor dependence of system performance in 1.28 Tbit/s/ch-525 km Nyquist pulse transmission

Abstract

We evaluate the roll-off factor dependence of a Nyquist pulse in a 1.28 Tbit/s-525 km transmission. The optimum value is 0.5, and for lower values an overlap with neighboring symbols results in larger nonlinear impairments.
