Abstract

A special distinguished research project, known as the "T" Project (1983-1988), has been carried out at Tohoku University, Japan, with the objective of demonstrating and verifying a design procedure for geothermal HDR reservoir cracks based on fracture mechanics. Associated with this is a parallel effort aimed at understanding the thermal, mechanical and chemical effects of rock-water interaction in a geothermal environment.
