Abstract
Uranium containing low level wastes such as papers, resins, etc, from nuclear industries would be treated as non-radioactive wastes after the removal of radioactive materials including uranium. The gasification process using steam would have advantages for the decomposition of such wastes and volume reduction. Thus, reaction of uranium containing wastes with steam in the gasification process was studied. Effects of reaction conditions, such as temperature, time and oxygen addition for the separation of uranium from the wastes were also studied. The optimum conditions for the removal of radioactive materials including uranium were discussed.
