Radiation characteristics of array antennas for mobile handsets

Abstract

The rapid growth of mobile phone user has required for higher capacity and higher data rates in the cellular network. One way to meet these demands is using the techniques of adaptive array antenna. Because adaptive array antennas may offer the benefits of reduction of multi-path fading, suppression of interference signals, lowering the SAR [1]. Previously, the adaptive array antenna technique has been mostly applied to the base stations, however this technique is expected to be used to the mobile handsets to improve the quality of communication.
