Abstract
The diffusivity of protons in Sc3+ doped-SrZrO3 single crystals have been determined by the infrared absorption technique in the temperature range of 400-750 °C. The proton diffusion coefficient D has been evaluated by two different methods, i.e. (1) the sudden change of PH2O and (2) the exchange between H+ and D+-vapor. It is found that the D value of proton obtained in SrZrO3 single crystals is smaller than that obtained in ceramics, and the activation energy of D obtained by the method (1) is larger than that of ceramics. From these results, comes a suggestion that the defect concentration (or distribution) in the ceramics grains may be different from that in single crystals.
