Proposed creep residual life estimation method for boiler tube based on rupture test

Abstract

The creep residual life of aged boiler tube is evaluated by creep rupture tests using samples of used tube. Test data are analyzed by time-temperature parameter (TTP) method. However, these are some problems with the conditions of creep rupture tests and the analytical method of test date. A revised method to solve these problems is proposed as follows : ( 1 ) Test stress and temperature are selected based on the principles of the TTP method. The maximum temperature is raised to reduce the stress to operating conditions. ( 2 ) Both optimum TTP and constant for the test data are automatically selected and best fitting curves for the stress-TTP relationship are calculated using ISIJVAMAS creep rupture data analysis software.
