Probing the one-loop Zgg vertex at hadron colliders

Abstract

We study consequences of the one-loop Zgg vertex, which arises from the large mass splitting between the top and the bottom quarks. in the hadronic Z production at high transverse momentum. The vertex is found to affect significantly the three T-odd angular asymmetries of the decaying leptons, where all the asymmetries should decrease in magnitude above the top quark pair production threshold. The effect is, however, found to be at most at the level of a few percent at Tevatron energies. Advantages of detecting the asymmetries in the Z → bb/cc modes are briefly discussed.
