Pressure-induced transition from a charge-disproportionated antiferromagnetic state to a charge-uniform ferromagnetic state in Sr2/3La1/3FeO3

Abstract

The pressure effects on SLFO were studied with 57Fe Mossbauer spectroscopy and x-ray diffraction (XRD) using synchrotron radiation. For simplicity purposes, the nominal valence and the terminology of charge disproportion (CD) such as 3De11/3+ ↔ 2Fe3+ + Fe5+ were used. It was found that the contraction of the unit cell volume of V(23 GPa)/V0=0.89 induces the switching of the ground state of SLFO from the charge-disproportionated AF state to the charge-uniform FM state.
