Abstract
Pressure effects on magnetic properties of Cu3Au-type ordered alloys MPt3 (M = V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co) are studied based on their electronic band structures calculated by using a linearized augmented-plane-wave (LAPW) method. It is found that the magnetization in the ferromagnetic state of CoPt3 decreases more rapidly with increasing pressure than in the magnetically ordered states of the other alloys. It is expected that the magnetic moment of Pt atoms in CrPt3 (or VPt3) becomes parallel to that of Cr (or V) atoms under high pressure.
