Abstract
Porous spheres containing wollastonite with numerous nano-sized pores were prepared by an electrospray method using hydrolyzed silicon alkoxide containing Ca2+ ions. The pores in the spheres formed through evaporation of distilled water and ethanol was used as the solvent during a dry process, and subsequently crystallization of wollastonite after sintering led to the formation of nano-sized pores at the sphere surface. The size of the spheres and the amount of wollastonite formed were controlled by chemical composition of the precursor solution.
