Preparation of microporous and microdot structures from photo-crosslinkable resin by self-organization

Abstract

In this report, we show the preparation of honeycomb-like mesh film and microdot structures by simple ultrasonication of cross-linked honeycomb-patterned film prepared by self-organization in organic solvents. We have reported that cross-linked honeycomb-patterned films can be prepared from casting liquid type photo-crosslinkable resin by using condensed water droplet arrays formed on the solution surface as templates. In order to obtain well-arranged honeycomb-patterned film of photo-crosslinkable resin, the UV irradiation timing is optimized. After immersion of the cross-linked honeycomb-patterned film in chloroform and ultrasonication, honeycomb-like mesh was separated from the photo-crosslinked honeycomb-patterned film. The microdot structure was remained on the surface of the film. The formation mechanism of honeycomb-like mesh and microdot structure was discussed.
