Preparation of hollow nanoparticles of amphiphilic block-copolymers

Abstract

We show the simple preparation method of hollow nanoparticles from amphiphilic block-copolymers. Tetrahydrofran (THF) solution of poly(styrene-block-sodium acrylate) was prepared. After mixing water into the block-copolymer solution, the THF was evaporated. Then, the block-copolymers dispersed in water as particles. By scanning transmission electron microscopy, the particles have hollow structure. The thickness of the membrane is c.a. 10 nm.
