Preparation of a photocatalyst, TiO 2 doped with N by its grinding in NH 3 atmosphere

Abstract

The preparation of a TiO 2-based photo-catalyst doped with nitrogen, which allows to narrow the band gap of TiO 2 by mechanochemical method, is put forward. The doped sample shows excellent photo-catalytic activity in the range from UV to visible-light wave length. This results to a photo-catalyst acting effectively under irradiation of solar energy. The NH 3 atmosphere helps to increase specific surface area of the product, due to the delay of aggregation. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 18th International Congress of Chemical and Process Engineering (Prague, Czech Republic 8/24-28/2008).
