Abstract
This study is conducted in order to survey bacterial pollution in sea water. For this purpose, the authors have investigated the coliform group density and the enterococcus density together with other water quality parameters such as temperature, transparency, pH, Cl-, BOD, COD and DO in Onagawa Bay, Miyagi Prefecture, in 1974. Using these data, the statistical characteristics of the coliform group density and the enterococcus density are examined, and the principal component analysis is applied to these data. Finally the coliform group density and the enterococcus density in Onagawa Bay are predicted by numerical analysis.
