Precipitation of α-Fe and structure for amorphous Fe74Cu1Nb3SixB22-x alloys by annealing

Abstract

The magnetic permeability of annealed Fe74Cu1Nb3SixB22-x alloys shows a maximum value for an Si concentration of x = 14. The optimum annealing temperature giving the highest magnetic permeability correlates with the annealing temperature showing the minimum value of the lattice parameter of α-Fe. The lattice parameter of α-Fe on annealing shows a strong dependence on the concentration of Si. The occupied area of the α-Fe phase at the optimum annealing temperature is about 50%-80%, and depends on the B concentration in the amorphous alloy. The grain size of α-Fe at the optimum annealing temperature is about 130 Å, which has no direct effect on the magnetic permeability.
