Power law of injection pressure and nozzle diameter on aggressive intensity of a cavitating jet

Abstract

Cavitation impacts caused by a cavitating jet can be applied for surface modification instead of shot peening, the surface modification using the cavitating impact is named as cavitation peening. In the case of practical application of the cavitation peening, it is required to estimate the aggressive intensity of the cavitating jet. In the present paper, in order to estimate the aggressive intensity of the jet, the power law of the injection pressure and the nozzle throat diameter was investigated, as the cavitation impact energy is increasing with power laws of velocity and characteristic size.
